Can We Talk About Second-Screening?
Do you ever find yourself watching a big screen while scrolling on a little one?
You know what I mean: winding down with TV in the evening while simultaneously checking your phone for absolutely no reason.
I have (and I admit this as someone who knows full well that multitasking is a terrible idea).
Apparently, it's not just me, because researchers have observed this (let's be honest, quite odd) behaviour and given it a name: second screening.
I don’t second-screen all the time, but I do it often enough to notice that it doesn’t help me rest. I’m not fully watching, not really scrolling, and definitely not relaxing.
So, I’m making a change.
Going from two screens to one in the evening feels perfectly doable (as it should). And as a backup, I’m using my Brick app blocker to keep my hands off my phone while I watch TV.
I'd love to know your experience. Do you second-screen? If so, why?
