Leadership is a Behaviour, Not a Job Title

I had the pleasure of falling into a Simon Sinek rabbit hole on YouTube last night, and this was my biggest takeaway:

Leadership isn’t a job title; it’s a behaviour.

True leadership is modelling the things that matter.

In a sustainable productivity context, it might look like this:

  • Taking breaks so others feel safe to do the same.

  • Setting boundaries so burnout doesn’t become the norm.

  • Trusting and developing your team instead of micromanaging.

  • Encouraging focus and autonomy, not just busyness.

Leadership is walking the walk, even when (especially when) it’s uncomfortable or inconvenient.

No one is inspired by what your CV says. They’re paying attention to what you do.

If you want a culture that values wellbeing and understands its role in high performance, start by modelling it.
