Wishing the Week Away
Does this working week sound familiar?
Monday to Thursday = Is it Friday yet?
Friday = Thank goodness it is Friday, roll on the weekend.
Saturday = Recovery mode.
Sunday = Sunday Scaries.
If you’re nodding along (even just a little), it might be worth pausing to notice how much of your week is spent wishing it away.
Feeling this way about work is neither healthy nor sustainable. If you recognise yourself in this pattern, here are a few gentle ideas to experiment with:
Find weekday joy. Try a lunchtime walk, a midweek coffee with a friend, or a creative hobby. These moments make weekdays something to look forward to, not just endure.
Protect your energy. If Saturdays are all about recovery, look at your workload, boundaries, and routines. Rest matters, but so does making sure you’re not running on empty all week.
Reframe Sunday. Give it an identity of its own. Plan something you’ll genuinely look forward to like a slow breakfast, a long hike, a good book, or a mini adventure.
Small changes build up. You may not transform your week overnight, but you can design a rhythm where life happens every day, not just on the weekend.
