Rest Comes in Different Forms

In sport, rest isn’t always about doing nothing. Active rest, such as walking, stretching, or a gentle swim, can improve blood flow and help your body recover.

The same idea can be applied outside sport. Rest isn’t just about lying down or sleeping (and sleep, while essential, is different from rest; we need both).

Sometimes rest looks like rearranging a shelf, doodling, or stitching something simple. It’s still rest, just a different kind.

This is part of what sustainable productivity means to me: understanding that rest comes in different forms. It doesn’t always look like stopping completely (although this isn't a permission slip to keep going endlessly!). It's about tuning into your body and asking: What do I need today to feel restored?

What kind of rest would help you right now?
