Martine Ellis for
Vale Douzenier
Hi, I’m Martine. I’ve lived in the Vale for over twenty-five years; I care about this parish and its people. I’m standing for election as douzenier because I want to play an active part in ensuring the Vale remains a great place to live.
About Me
I’ve lived in the Vale for more than twenty-five years, in Barras Lane, with my husband, Simon. The parish is home—it’s where I walk my dog most days and where I feel most connected to our island community.
Professionally, my background spans finance, education, and charity work. I run my own training business and lead education at a local charity. My career has taught me how to handle sensitive situations, listen carefully, and make fair, evidence-informed decisions.
My core values are service, learning, and curiosity. I’m driven by a genuine desire to help others and make things happen. I’m always learning and asking thoughtful questions to improve how things are done. I’m approachable, practical, and ready to represent parishioners with fairness and integrity.
If elected, I’ll bring both a fresh perspective and broad experience to the Vale douzaine—and I’ll work hard for the parish and its people.
How Does the Election Work?
A Vale Parish Meeting will take place on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, 7.30 pm (time TBC) at the Vale Douzaine Room. This is when nominations are considered and, if needed, the election for douzenier takes place.
At the start of the meeting, parishioners decide whether to hold the election that evening or defer it for two weeks to allow a full parish vote at polling stations. The election will only be deferred if at least seven parishioners raise their hands in favour of doing so.
If you’d like to support me, please attend on 4 November, as you will need to be present to vote should the election take place. Thank you.
If the election is deferred, I will post further information on this page explaining how to participate in the voting process.
To vote, you must live in the Vale and be on the parish electoral roll.
